Now that you are pregnant, is your overall health in tune?

During pregnancy, doctor visits will be a very common activity on your calendar. Monthly OB visits are a must to check monthly development of your baby inside and to also check on the overall health of your body to make sure you are healthy for labor.

The first few visits will focus on calculating the date of conception and assess your health and medical history along with checking things that might potentially affect your pregnancy such as allergies or genetic condition.

YOUR PEARLY WHITES

Dental Check Ups are also encouraged during your pregnancy journey.  Preventive dental work while pregnant is essential to avoid oral infections such as gum disease, which has been linked to preterm birth.  Dental Cavity filings must be treated to avoid any cause of inflammation or infection that might cause a bigger problem.

However, for more complicated procedure like root canal or crown placement, its best to do it during 2nd trimester but ensure to consult and get a clearance from your OB GYNE.

NEW SPECS?

With a lot of changes happening in your body such as – hormones, water retention, metabolism and blood circulation – you might experience some changes in your eyesight.

At this point, if you are wearing contact lenses, you might suddenly feel a little discomfort because of the change in thickness and curvature of your cornea. You may also find yourself squinting more than usual even if you are wearing your glasses.

Find time to visit your opthalmologist to get an advise if you need a new set of eyeglasses and if it is still advisable for you to wear contact lenses.
