Resilience

How children manage life’s ups and downs is critical to their well-being. And how we act as parents, how we live and how we think goes a long way to creating kids who can deal with adversity. How our children manage this will influence their overall success, well-being and happiness in life (Dweck, 2006).

Much of the foundation of resilience comes from within the family. Children who are raised with unconditional love and warmth, who develop secure attachment relationships with parents, who receive ongoing support, healthy and consistent boundaries and limits, and strong, positive standards will have a framework that supports resilience.
