Bonding with the whole family

Family Bonding

If you feel like you’re missing out on the precious years of your child’s development, here are 3 ways you can enjoy some quality time with the family.

Whether you’re a working or stay-at-home mum, responsibilities and obligations can get in the way of properly connecting and bonding with your little one. You may feel like you’re missing out on the precious years of your child’s development, so here are 3 ways you can enjoy some quality time with the family.

Get involved in your little one’s favourite hobby or activity
Seeing your little one enjoy doing what they love can be an incredibly fulfilling part of motherhood. If your little starts showing interest in certain activities or sports, encourage them to go for it even if it muddies their clothes or creates a glittery mess by the end of it. The cleaning or washing up can make for additional bonding time and Creative Play – with the added benefit of teaching your little one to clean up after themselves!

Get your little one involved in planning family activities
You can create a little family committee when discussing holiday trips or family outings. Assign each family member a responsibility or a role, or impose a silly rule during the trip. For example, “Anyone who yawns five times will have to wear a funny hat.” Let your little one have a say in making decisions during the trip, and if it is agreeable with the whole family, go for it!

Dedicate a special day for family tradition
You can designate a specific period for the whole family to spend quality time together. It can be a public holiday, a festive celebration or a simple weekend for everyone – no matter how busy – to get together and enjoy an activity. With the exceptions of emergencies, if you have a particular activity that you and your family always do, make it a fun tradition to look forward to every year!
