Raising the odds

There is no magic formula to conceiving, but there are some things you can do to raise the odds of your pregnancy. Find out the six ways to achieve that.
Eat healthy
By that, we mean 3 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruits per day. Also, eat dairy foods in moderation and drink lots of water.
Consider going organic
With organic fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy products, you might have low risk of consuming potentially harmful pesticides or synthetic growth hormones that many conventional food may contain.
Cut out the chemicals
When you’re planning, try avoiding chemical exposure as much as possible. Clean your house ‘green’ with cleaners readily made from products you already have at home (vinegar or baking soda). And if you have a cat, do not clean out the kitty litter. Toxoplasmosis/parasite infection from kitty litter can be passed down to your unborn child when you do conceive.
Get moving
Stay active by sticking to an exercise routine to help in maintaining a regular menstrual cycle. As a bonus, it can also help you to move your way out of stress.
Butt out
Call it quits altogether with tobacco, alcohol and any illicit drugs when you’re trying to conceive. Doing any of these may lead to a number of problems when you do conceive, such as miscarriage, premature births, development delays and learning problems.
Know your cycle
You might be practicing all the healthy precautions to maximize your chances of conceiving. But ultimately, you need to be familiar with your menstrual cycle. If you find it challenging, use an ovulation tracker to know which days to spice things up.
